Hi Otby,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that the Wifi is not working in your computer. We suspect that some WIFI related component might have been  corrupt which could have caused the issue. So, please follow the below methods and check if the issue persists.

Method 1: Check the Dependency Services of the WLAN AutoConfig

Please follow these steps:

a) Press "Windows Logo" + "R" keys on the keyboard to open the "Run" command box.

b) Type "Services.msc" in the "Run" command box and press "Enter".

c) Search for the "WLAN AutoConfig"service from the list of services.

d) Double click on it to open its properties.

e) Click on the "Dependencies" tab and make a note of the services listed there.

f) Now, check if these services are running with the startup type "Automatic".

g) If not, restart those services and change their startup type to "Automatic".

h) Restart the computer and check if the issue still persists.

Let's reset the winsock entries and TCP/IP stack and to troubleshoot the issue further.

Follow the steps:

a) Press Windows Key + X together and select Command Prompt (admin).

b) Type the following command and hit Enter after each:

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

Please let us know if the issue is resolved or you need any further assistance

So, ends up this method did work for my Sony Vaio after complete power-off then turning back on, not "restarting". I accidentally let my computer die, then when I turned it back on, everything was working fine. Thanks for your help!

I have tried every fix on every post and my WIFI still will not stay on.  The slider just moves back to off every time.  This is very frustrating and my laptop is basically useless as a laptop.  I can't believe Microsoft can't come up with an answer to this issue

This is the second time I have had the similar problem. The first time they reset my entire computer and I lost EVERYTHING since it didn't back-up to the onedrive correctly. I have tried every possible combination of trouble shooting and testing I have found on this page and a few others and everything shows my computer as functioning correctly, lights for wifi are on, driver running properly, however, I can't find wifi networks and the wifi switch will not stay in the on position. The light for the wireless connectivity is always lit on the front of my computer though.

    Please help!
